Life begins at the end of your comfort zone!

comfort-zoneAn average person will do anything to avoid pain, whether it’s physical or emotional pain. Comfort is the most important state for an average person. They pretend not to see problems and bathe in self-denial just to keep themselves comfortable, avoid confrontations, and avoid taking risk at any cost. They operate in a state of victim and blame outside circumstances for all their misfortunes.

World-class achievers do whatever it takes to achieve their goals, and 100 percent of those actions are uncomfortable, but they do them anyways without a second though. Successful people take full responsibility for their life and take massive actions to create their desired outcome. While the masses settle for anything, just to have an illusion of being comfortable, world-class achievers never settle for less than they want and most often over achieve. Just remember, you can have anything in your life just the way you want it. Do you know why people do not get what they want? Because they do not know what they want! First step on your success is to get crystal clear on what you want in all areas of your life: health and fitness, relationships, business and finances, personal goals, and contribution. While creating a list of your goals, dream big! By dreaming small you have achieved small results so far. I want you to dream as big as if anything is possible! And actually it’s a must to believe that anything you want to achieve and have in life is possible! As Napoleon Hill said, “Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.”  This is scientifically proven by phenomenon known as placebo effect. The Placebo Effect is one of the strangest and least understood phenomenons found in human physiology and psychology. Most of us know a thing or two about it, namely that we can essentially cure ourselves of maladies simply because we believe we are being cured of them. In other words we trick ourselves back into health, proving that the brain is an extremely powerful entity.

This is very important to think positive about your future and attaining your goals. Fear attracts fear. Misery attracts misery. Love attracts love. Abundance attracts abundance. Most successful people have a happy and joyful vibe about them. They live in the same world as you and I however they expect only the best, they know that life has amazing things to offer, and they are looking toward them.

Now, I am not saying just think positive and sit and wait for things to happen for you. You are the master of your destiny. You have to take actions and do what’s uncomfortable to manifest what you want in life. What we fear most is what we most need to do. As Tony Robbins says, “If you can’t, you must.” A person’s success can be measured by the number of uncomfortable conversations he or she is willing to have and uncomfortable action he or she is willing to take.

If you want to achieve more than you currently have, you will have to confront your fears on a regular basis. The masses get paralyzed by fear, they create all kinds of excuses and rationalize why their idea would not work out anyways and stop there. World-class achievers feel the fear and do it anyways. Just remember any situation when you had to speak in front of group of people. You probably were terrified, your hearted was racing and your palms were sweating. After your talk you felt such a great relieve and you actually though to yourself, not a big deal, I don’t even know why I was so terrified. I remember my first major presentation in college in front of 30 classmates. I was terrified a week before my speech. I was not able to sleep at all before my presentation thinking of how terrifying the whole experience would be. After I was done, I had that amazing feeling of break through, feeling of proving to myself I was capable of anything. To this day I feel nervous to speak in public, however I choose to do it in spite of fear. I do not let fear or small noise in my head stop my from achieving my goals. I was terrified of skydiving. I jumped five times just to kill the little monster called fear. Recently I was attending one of Tony Robbins events in Las Vegas.  My friends and I went out one night and ended up in ‘Stratosphere’, the famous sky-jump attraction. ‘Stratosphere’ is 108-story building, 855 feet tall. Now, imagine jumping off that building. At first I almost freaked out, them I used my last ounce of willpower to jump despite of fear. I was absolutely terrified while going up in the elevator. On the other hand, both of my friends were as calm as going shopping. My girlfriend even asked if she was allowed to listen to her iPod, because she wanted to listen to beautiful music during her free fall. I could not believe how calm they were and all I wanted to be able to master my fear as them. I wanted to be able to be in total control of my own emotions including fear.  By the way both of my friends were much more financially successful than me at that time, because they were in total control and masters of their emotional state. I was the last one to go. All I can remember my heart was racing and I was about to having a panic attack. I was gulping air and trying to tell to myself I will be all right. “Katrina, are you ready? Put your right foot on the edge, now put your left foot next to your right. I will count to three and you let go of your grip.” Next moment I know I am flying, the feeling is just amazing and breathtaking. I have zero fear and tons of excitement. Upon landing I felt so proud of myself, I had that priceless indescribable feeling of a breakthrough that money can’t buy!

Unfortunately, most people let fear stop them from taking actions and moving forward towards their aspirations. The masses will do anything to avoid the uncomfortable feeling of fear, that is why their dreams remain just dreams. All of the best things in life require stepping out of comfort zone and taking risk. Just think what is it costing you physically, emotionally, and financially to let your fear rule your life? What would you be able to accomplish, how would your life change if you took those actions? It is not too late to start. Start now!

I love how Tim Ferris challenges his students by making them stepping out of comfort zone, facing the fear of rejection and taking actions. Tim offered a round-trip ticket anywhere in the world to anyone who could complete his challenge. He told his students to stay after class if they were interested. Nearly 20 out of 60 students have stayed. Tim’s assignment was designed to test their comfort zones while forcing them to use some of the tactics he was teaching. Assignment was very simple: contact three seemingly impossible-to-reach people, luminary-level business mentors and celebrities of various types – Tiger Woods, Madonna, Bill Clinton, or others – and get at least one to reply to three questions. How many did complete the challenge? None, zero, nada. All of them had excuses why it was not possible to attain before they even tried. The following year Tim was teaching at the same University and gave out the same assignment. He told his students about last year failure that no one even tried since all of the overestimated the competition. This time the results were totally different. Six out of 17 students have completed the assignment in less than 48 hours. In fact, the first class had more capable students, but they took zero actions. The second group just embraced what Tim taught them before they started. And that one thing was: doing the unrealistic is easier than doing the realistic. The masses are convinced they are incapable of success, so they never even try and settle for mediocre. The level of competition therefore for ‘realistic’ goals is much higher that for ‘unrealistic’. Do not underestimate yourself! What the masses call unrealistic goals are much easier to achieve because they are so enormous that you develop world-class drive to achieve them. On the other hand realistic goals are limited and restricted to a conventional average linear mindset. They are uninspiring and at first obstacle you quit. Set out enormous goals and act on them NOW! Tomorrow will never come. This is very important; the MOST IMPORTANT ACTIONS ARE NEVER COMFORTABLE! You must face your fears and step out of your comfort zone to grow and create limitless future and leave legacy!
