7 Tips to Surviving Airport During Holiday’s Travels

seI travel a lot and I feel an airport is the worst when it comes to our health. Just passing through TSA could be traumatizing. Airport food is garbage. And noise pollution could lead to heart attack. Follow these 7 tips to make your airport visit as pleasant as possible. (If you fly private, you can skip this article)

1. Avoid X-Ray  Body Scanner at all cost.

X-ray body scanners use ionizing radiation, a form of energy that has been shown to damage DNA and cause cancer. The European Union in 2011 prohibited the use of X-ray body scanners in European airports, parting ways with the U.S. TSA. Allow additional 5 minutes for a pat-down. Look at it as a free massage before you hop on a plane.

2. Get Portable Water Filter.

I am all about health and saving the environment. You need to drink extra water while on the airplane. Instead of paying $5 for a bottle of water and use plastic bottle, invest $25 for a portable water filter. Hydrate, save $$ and environment.

3. Get Earplugs.

Noise pollution is highly underestimated. Get earplugs to protect yourself from aircraft noise and crying babies along. Hearing loss is the most common and often discussed health effect, but research has shown that exposure to constant or high levels of noise can cause countless adverse health affects. Problems related to noise include stress related illnesses, high blood pressure, speech interference, hearing loss, sleep disruption and lost productivity.

4.Pack Your Snack.

Pack some fruits and veggies. Apples and bananas are the easiest to grab on the go. Nuts and dried fruits are great too. Why not to buy them at the airport? Because why would you buy overpriced conventional (non-organic) highly processed snacks? Bring your own.

5. Wear comfy cloth.

Wear comfortable natural fiber cloth. Your skin is the largest organ and it needs to breathe. I am all about fashion, but when it comes to traveling, I prefer to be comfy. Pack something fancy in your carry on and if you need to look polished just like from Jet-Set magazine commercial, go change in the bathroom.

6. Get some Education.

While travelling, either hanging at the airport or on the plane, read a book or listen to an education audio book. Get educated rather then entertained. I love journaling and go over my goals while on a plane. That’s my quiet time.

7. Make New Friends.

You can always meet a character or two at the airport. Meet new people and learn something new form them.

Happy travels my friends!
